On March 18, 2021, John (Jack) Zacharias passed away peacefully at the age of 82 after a short stay in Riverview Health Centre.
Left to mourn are loving wife of 60 years, Gloria; sons, Jeff and Scott (Bridgette); grandchildren, Bryce (Erin), Perrin, Jack and Brielle; great-grandchildren, Wren and Loic; sisters, Anne Giesbrecht (Jake); Jesse Dyck; and Esther Rothenburger (Norman); and sisters-in-law, Lynne, Carol Thordarson (Bob); Dolores Eyolfson; Jackie Ireland (Doug Martin) and their families.
He is predeceased by his parents, John J. and Helena Zacharias; parents-in-law, Eyolfur and Loa Eyolfson; brother Abe; brothers-in-law, Ron Eyolfson and Hugh Dyck; daughter-in-law Nancy and granddaughter Samantha.
Jack was born in Winkler, Manitoba on January 9, 1939. He and his siblings grew up on a farm just east of Winkler. He worked hard helping out until the failing health of his father meant that they needed to move to town. This was followed by the early passing of his mother. He joined the RCMP in 1957 at the age of 18 and had a rewarding 36-year career that included time in Selkirk, Portage La Prairie, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Bern, Switzerland and Bonn, Germany. During his time in Selkirk, he met Gloria while out skating, which started a two-year courtship resulting in their marriage in December 1960. Their sons were both born in Portage la Prairie. While in Winnipeg he was part of the team investigating a UFO sighting in Falcon Lake. He was also proud to guard many dignitaries, including prime ministers and royalty when they visited Manitoba.
As a liaison officer in Europe, he earned the respect of members of the Justice system in many countries. While overseas he and Gloria enjoyed the challenges of representing Canada. He often spoke that his work on war crimes was a highlight, sifting through records in Berlin and sharing his findings with Interpol. He and Gloria developed many lifelong international friendships. While in Europe, Jack and family travelled and enjoyed the visits of many friends and family. He retired at the rank of Inspector in 1993, when he and Gloria chose to move to Cranbrook, BC to be close to mountains and where his brother Abe and family lived. They enjoyed the time hiking and reconnecting.
In 2002 they returned to their roots in Manitoba, to be closer to family.
In his retirement years, he was fortunate to have the pleasure of being part of the annual harvest at the farms of his brothers-in-law, first with Jake near Plum Coulee, then with Norman and son Kelvin southwest of Morden. He had started his life on the farm and was able to enjoy his passion for the hard work of the harvest until recent years.
Food was always a particular pleasure. He enjoyed a perfectly barbequed steak, Mennonite sausage or a big fry of Gimli pickerel fillets; and, of course, Gloria's gourmet dinners.
He was very proud his children and the lives they have built for themselves. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow into young adults and encouraged them to follow their ambitions.
Hockey played an important role in his life, starting with time playing in Winkler with the Royals. He continued playing whenever he could, including with a senior league in Bern, Switzerland. His last game was with the Stonewall Oldtimers league in early 2020, at the age of 81.
One of the highlights of the last few years was a hiking trip he took with his sons to Europe. They spent time hiking in the mountains of Switzerland and Italy. He always encouraged his sons to travel and this last major trip with them highlighted the joy he had exploring the roads less travelled.
He spent a number of years writing his memoirs, publishing in 2012. He and Gloria worked together on many facets of the book, reliving wonderful memories of their lives together.
A quote from his memoir: "There is no power that can control love, it has to be freely given and I have received that in abundance."
His love and pride for his family and friends, his respect for others, and his underlying faith guided him throughout his life.
Special thanks goes to Dr. Ben Fultz and his team of specialists, the ALS Society of Manitoba, and all the staff of Palliative Care for their support, guidance and compassion throughout Jack's illness.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service at this time. Jack has chosen to be laid to rest at the RCMP cemetery in Regina, at a future date.
Donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba or Gimli Lutheran Church in Jack's memory.

En 2002, ils sont retournés à leurs racines au Manitoba, pour se rapprocher de leur famille.
Dans ses années de retraite, il a eu la chance d'avoir le plaisir de faire partie de la récolte annuelle dans les fermes de ses beaux-frères, d'abord avec Jake près de Plum Coulee, puis avec Norman et son fils Kelvin au sud-ouest de Morden. Il avait commencé sa vie à la ferme et a pu profiter de sa passion pour le dur labeur de la récolte jusqu'à ces dernières années.
La nourriture était toujours un plaisir particulier. Il a apprécié un steak parfaitement grillé, une saucisse mennonite ou une grande frite de filets de brochet de Gimli; et, bien sûr, les dîners gastronomiques de Gloria.
Il était très fier de ses enfants et de la vie qu'ils se sont bâtie. Il aimait voir ses petits-enfants devenir de jeunes adultes et les encourageait à suivre leurs ambitions.
Le hockey a joué un rôle important dans sa vie, à commencer par jouer à Winkler avec les Royals. Il a continué à jouer chaque fois qu'il le pouvait, y compris avec une ligue senior à Berne, en Suisse. Son dernier match était avec la ligue Stonewall Oldtimers début 2020, à l'âge de 81 ans.
L'un des moments forts de ces dernières années a été un voyage de randonnée qu'il a fait avec ses fils en Europe. Ils ont passé du temps à faire de la randonnée dans les montagnes de Suisse et d'Italie. Il a toujours encouragé ses fils à voyager et ce dernier grand voyage avec eux a mis en évidence la joie qu'il éprouvait à explorer les routes les moins fréquentées.
Il a passé un certain nombre d'années à écrire ses mémoires, à publier en 2012. Lui et Gloria ont travaillé ensemble sur de nombreuses facettes du livre, revivant de merveilleux souvenirs de leur vie ensemble.
Une citation de ses mémoires: "Il n'y a pas de pouvoir qui puisse contrôler l'amour, il doit être donné librement et je l'ai reçu en abondance."
Son amour et sa fierté pour sa famille et ses amis, son respect des autres et sa foi sous-jacente l'ont guidé tout au long de sa vie.
Des remerciements particuliers vont au Dr Ben Fultz et à son équipe de spécialistes, à la Société de la SLA du Manitoba et à tout le personnel des soins palliatifs pour leur soutien, leurs conseils et leur compassion tout au long de la maladie de Jack.
La crémation a eu lieu. Il n'y aura pas de service funèbre pour le moment. Jack a choisi d'être inhumé au cimetière de la GRC à Regina, à une date ultérieure.
Des dons peuvent être faits à la Société de la SLA du Manitoba ou à l'Église luthérienne Gimli à la mémoire de Jack.

Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Alexander and Lena, Fred was the youngest of 7 children raised on the farm. As a teenager, Fred loved baseball and was scouted for the big leagues, even playing against Gordie Howe and the Saskatchewan 55's. He joined the RCMP and served in Revelstoke, Kelowna, Armstrong (NCO in charge) , Langley and Squamish (NCO in charge), retiring as a Staff Sgt. in 1991 in North Vancouver, B. C..
Fred was married to Roberta in 1962, raised 3 kids and transferred around the Province of BC with the RCMP, settling the family in Squamish in 1977.
He was instrumental in the building of Babe Ruth baseball fields in Armstrong and in Squamish and stayed involved in the game as an umpire for many years. He was an avid curler, playing for mens and mixed leagues, and in the RCMP championships . In Squamish, Fred served as Rotary Club and Squamish Loggers Sports president and played a key role in the planning and building of the Hendrickson Loggers Sports Grounds.
He received a St. John’s Ambulance award of bravery for saving the life of a young girl from a burning home in Armstrong, B. C.
Fred was happy in retirement, and with his partner Iris enjoyed golfing, curling and travelling to warm destinations, spending many winters in Palm Desert. He was very generous with his kids and grandkids.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Lena, brothers Dan, Michael and Bill, and sister Nell. He is also predeceased by sweet Orrisha (Iris), his loving partner of 18 years. Deeply missed by his sisters, Ann and Mary, daughters Lauren (Dean) and Cori-Ellen (Harry) and son Preston, grandchildren Haley, Evan and Logan, Olivia and Stryker. Great grandchildren Sawyer, Linden and Rowyn.
No service at this time. Ashes to be in interred in the RCMP Columbarium in Regina, SK when the wind blows warm on the prairie. Heartfelt thank yous for the kind and compassionate care received in Squamish and Lions Gate Hospitals and from his Shannon Falls Family.

Arrière-petits-enfants Sawyer, Linden et Rowyn.

Robert was born in Reaburn, Manitoba, on June 25, 1935. Robert joined the RCMP in 1957, serving proudly for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. He remained in Delta, British Columbia.
After training in Regina, his first posting was in Hafford, Saskatchewan. After a year and a half, he moved to Ottawa to complete his training as an Identification Section Technician. He worked throughout his career in various detachments in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, finishing his career at Vancouver E Division as a Staff Sergeant.
Robert took great joy in his family. He had a wide range of interests, including obtaining his pilot's license, as well as hobbies such as stained glass and photography that gave him great pleasure. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Joyce. During their amazing 62 years of marriage together, they welcomed two children. Brent (Kimberly), granddaughters Lauren and Abigail. Daughter Cheryl (David) and grandson Jordan.
Also missed by his sister Barbara, sister-in-laws Patricia (Robert) and Linda Harach, extended family, and many friends. He was a devoted and loving husband, an incredible Dad, an amazing grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be missed by all. By request, there will not be a service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency and/or the Heart and Stroke Associations.

Robert Zaharia joined the RCMP on March 20, 1957. After recruit training, he served in multiple divisions retiring on March 7, 1987 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Robert est né à Reaburn, au Manitoba, le 25 juin 1935. Robert s'est joint à la GRC en 1957, servant fièrement pendant 30 ans jusqu'à sa retraite en 1987. Il est resté à Delta, en Colombie-Britannique.
Après sa formation à Regina, sa première affectation a eu lieu à Hafford, en Saskatchewan. Après un an et demi, il a déménagé à Ottawa pour terminer sa formation de technicien de la section d'identification. Il a travaillé tout au long de sa carrière dans divers détachements en Saskatchewan, en Alberta et en Colombie-Britannique, terminant sa carrière à la Division E de Vancouver en tant que sergent d'état-major.
Robert prenait beaucoup de plaisir à être en famille. Il avait de nombreux intérêts, notamment l'obtention de sa licence de pilote, ainsi que des passe-temps comme le vitrail et la photographie qui lui procuraient beaucoup de plaisir. Il était toujours prêt à donner un coup de main à quiconque en avait besoin.
Robert manquera beaucoup à sa femme, Joyce. Au cours de leurs 62 années de mariage extraordinaires, ils ont accueilli deux enfants. Brent (Kimberly), ses petites-filles Lauren et Abigail, sa fille Cheryl (David) et son petit-fils Jordan.
Sa sœur Barbara, ses belles-sœurs Patricia (Robert) et Linda Harach, sa famille élargie et de nombreux amis lui manquent également. Il était un mari dévoué et aimant, un père incroyable, un grand-père extraordinaire et un ami fidèle. Il manquera à tous. Sur demande, il n'y aura pas de service.

At the request of the deceased there will be no Funeral Service. The burial took place at the RCMP Cemetery in Regina. Funeral arrangements are entrusted by Paragon Funeral and Cremation Services. Ron was born in Lethbridge on January 19, 1940. Ron was a RCMP officer for 25 years retiring with the rank of Sergeant. He enjoyed hunting and golfing. Ron is survived by grandchildren, Stephanie, Ailsa, Owen and Milo; brother, Doug; sister, Marlene; children, Lance, Teresa and Nadine; nieces and nephews, Mike, Jeff, Dale, Tracy, Lisa. Mike, Adrianna. Mamie, Jyldyz and Daniel grand nephew, Adam and other family and friends. Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Elma; father, William; brothers, William, David and Gary.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Kidney Foundation. The family wishes to thank unit 3F and the Renal Unit at the Regina General Hospital and the Kinmara Care Home and staff.

Ron a été officier de la GRC pendant 25 ans à la retraite avec le grade de sergent. Il aimait la chasse et le golf. Ron est survécu par ses petits-enfants, Stephanie, Ailsa, Owen et Milo; frère, Doug; sœur, Marlene; enfants, Lance, Teresa et Nadine; Mike, Jeff, Dale, Tracy, Lisa. Mike, Adrianna. Mamie, Jyldyz et Daniel grand-neveu, Adam et d'autres membres de la famille et amis. Ron est précédé dans la mort par sa mère, Elma; père, William; frères, William, David et Gary.

Joseph Edward Martin (Ed) Zary passed away on November 21, 2022, his seventy-fifth birthday.
Ed, his parents Joe and Monty and brother Keith lived in Saskatoon and he attended Haultain and Aden Bowman, graduating in 1965. Ed attended SIAST and graduated in 1968 with a Diploma in Renewable Resources Technology. He worked for the Department of Natural Resources for the next 7 years. While in Nipawin in 1968, he met Beverley and they were married in 1973.
Ed joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1975 and he and Bev lived in Moose Jaw and Kerrobert prior to having their children Michael in 1980 and Jennifer in 1982. The family was stationed in Yorkton, Creighton, and Warman prior to his retirement in 2001. In 2005, Bev had the opportunity to transfer to Nipawin and Ed was glad to move to where he considered home and to be surrounded by family that meant so much to him. In 2020, they moved to Victoria, and it was there that he was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Ed enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. Having friends and family over for drinks, meals, cards and games were his favourite times. He had a loud, distinctive laugh that came without hesitation. He valued orderliness and punctuality and was always waiting at the door well in advance of departure time. He was a dependable husband and father, steady and resolute in character.
He was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law Henry Boxall and brother-in-law Keith Boxall. He is survived by Bev, Michael (Tara Hurst and Albert) and Jennifer (Corey Shoemaker and children, Michael, Thomas, and Madelyn), brother Keith, mother-in-law Anne Boxall, sisters-in-law and their families, Gloria Dyok, Tammy Boxall, Lesley Nowlin (Dave) and Valerie Boxall (Bruce Thomson),

Joseph Edward Martin (Ed) Zary est décédé le 21 novembre 2022, son soixante-cinquième anniversaire.

Ed a apprécié le plein air, en particulier la pêche, la chasse et le jardinage. Avoir des amis et de la famille pour boire un verre, des repas, des cartes et des jeux était son temps préféré. Il a eu un rire fort et distinctif qui est venu sans hésitation. Il appréciait l'ordre et la ponctualité et attendait toujours à la porte bien avant l'heure de départ. Il était un mari et un père fiables, de caractère stable et résolu.
Il a été précédé par ses parents, le beau-père Henry Boxall et le beau-frère Keith Boxall. In 1941 he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and served in the Arctic and all provinces except Nfld.-Lab. He represented Canada in pistol shooting at the World's Championships in Venezuela in 1954 and Moscow in 1958, at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia in 1956 and won a Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games in Chicago in 1959. He was a 5-time Canadian Pistol Champion, Provincial Champion in Ontario, Quebec & B.C., 4-time RCMP Service Revolver Champion and won the Canadian Forces Service Pistol Championship once. He was inducted into the Canadian Shooting Hall of Fame. In 1970 he retired with the rank of Sergeant-Major. His RCMP career was followed by 25 years as a Presiding Justice of the Peace in the Criminal Division of the Provincial Court in London.
Descended from United Empire Loyalists, he was a charter member of the London and Western Ontario Branch of the U.E.L. Association of Canada. He served a term as President and for many years as Genealogist and on the Dominion Council. As Chairman of the Association's "Bicentennial Committee," he planned and oversaw the two-year, coast-to-coast celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the U.E. Loyalists to Canada in 1783 and 1784. He was Clerk and long-time Treasurer of the Coldstream Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Never one to meekly follow the leader, he wanted to be the leader. Never satisfied with things as they are, he always looked for newer, better, more efficient ways of doing things.
In retirement he and Shirley travelled extensively through Britain, the Netherlands and Belgium, cruised the Rhine, Caribbean and B.C's Inside Passage to Alaska and visited many places and people Jim had known when in the police. He "decreed" that there would be no mourning for him and no visitation or funeral service. He lived a long, full and satisfying life and was content with the way he "muddled" through. He wants to be remembered as he was: laughing, joking, teasing, telling stories or corny jokes, or innovating, teaching, helping, coaxing, needling, criticizing, competing, challenging or combating, whatever it took to get things done.
In time Shirley's ashes will join Jim's in a common urn and they will be together forever in the Quaker Cemetery at Coldstream with his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents.
Jim has been cremated and a family gathering was held to say good bye. A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Denning's of Strathroy 519-245-1023 "I did my best, it’s time to rest"

Le 28 juillet 1922, le deuxième fils de Raymond W. et Jessie (Robertson) Zavitz qui l'ont précédé, ainsi que ses frères Bob et Jack. Marié pour 65 années mémorables à la belle Shirley M. (McCorquodale) Zavitz, UE, fier père de Carol, Sharon (Rob Ward) (Rob Bregman), Charles "Chuck" Zavitz et la fille d'honneur Terry Robb, grand-père aimant de Jae ( Susie), Nathaniel, Jacob et Amber, et arrière grand-père d'Emma, Holly et Eve.

Il a été intronisé au Temple de la renommée du tournage canadien. En 1970, il a pris sa retraite avec le grade de sergent-major. Sa carrière de la GRC a été suivie de 25 ans en tant que juge de paix présidentielle dans la section criminelle de la Cour provinciale de Londres.
Descendant des Loyalistes de l'Empire-Uni, il était membre fondateur de la succursale de London et Western Ontario de l'U.E.L. Association du Canada. Il a été nommé président et pendant de nombreuses années en tant que généalogiste et sur le Conseil du Dominion. Il a “décrété” qu'il n'y aurait pas de deuil pour lui et aucun service de visite ou de funérailles. Il a vécu une vie longue, pleine et satisfaisante et s'est contenté de la façon dont il s'est “confondu”. Il veut se souvenir comme il l'était: rire, plaisanter, taquiner, raconter des histoires ou des blagues, ou innover, enseigner, aider, apaiser, critiquer, critiquer, concurrencer, défier ou combattre, tout ce qu'il fallait pour accomplir les choses.
Avec le temps, les cendres de Shirley rejoindront Jim dans une urne commune et elles seront ensemble pour toujours dans le cimetière quaker de Coldstream avec ses parents, grands-parents, arrière-grands-parents et arrière-arrière-arrière-grands-parents.
Jim a été incinéré et un rassemblement familial a été tenu pour dire au revoir. Une célébration de la vie se tiendra dans un proche avenir. Des arrangements ont été confiés au Denning de Strathroy 519-245-1023 "J'ai fait de mon mieux, il est temps de se reposer"

He served at L, G, O, A, N, E and HQ Divs., until retiring Dec. 31 1970. He was awarded RCMP Long Service MedaI, Bronze Clasp and Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He had the reputation of being the best all-round pistol shot in the country, representing Canada at the World Shooting Championships in Venezuela in 1954 and Moscow in 1958. He represented Canada at the Olympics in Melbourne, Australia in 1956 and won a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Chicago in 1959. Following, his RCMP career, he was a presiding Justice of the Peace in the Criminal Division in the provincial court in London, Ont.

Il a servi aux divisions L, G, O, A, N, E et QG jusqu'à sa retraite le 31 décembre 1970. Il a reçu le Médaille de service de la GRC, le fermoir et l'étoile de bronze de la GRC et la Médaille canadienne du volontaire. Il avait la réputation d'être le meilleur tireur polyvalent du pays, représentant le Canada aux Championnats du monde de tir au Venezuela en 1954 et à Moscou en 1958. Il a représenté le Canada aux Jeux olympiques de Melbourne, en Australie en 1956 et a remporté une médaille de bronze aux Jeux panaméricains de Chicago en 1959. It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden unexpected passing of John Zawyrucha at home on April 22, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Edna, daughter Patty, son Jerry both of Edmonton, brother Ed (Carole) of Kelowna, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, extended family and many many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam & Ann, his sister Polly (& brother in law Jim) and brother Wally.
Born in 1931 and raised on his grandfather's original homestead farm near Rama Saskatchewan, he was the 2nd of four children. He began school in Loch Sloy and later the family moved to the "metropolis" of Rama where he finished high school. John moved to Weyburn Sask where he gained employment as a male nurse at the Weyburn Mental Hospital. This experience would serve him well in the later years during his career with the RCMP.
John joined the RCMP in April of 1951 and served in various locations throughout Alberta and at HQ in Ottawa, serving in various positions both in uniform and plain clothes. K Division - Edmonton, Peace River, Slave Lake, Edson, Smoky Lake, Faust, Viking & Red Deer. While at Ottawa HQ he was Customs & Excise, Contract Policing, Research and Development & on the McDonald Commission Task force.
Following his retirement as Staff Sergeant in 1979, the family moved and settled in Vernon where he and Edna grew fruit, veggies and many many flowers. For eight seasons he worked out at Ellison Park as a Park ranger enjoying the many aspects of an outdoor job. He reactivated his membership in the Knights of Columbus, becoming a District Deputy, State Chairman & 4th Degree Knight. He was a very active member in the construction of Lady of Valley church, purchase of the land, instrumental in construction of the pews as well as utilizing his lifelong love of woodworking, he built a total of 17 furnishings for the new church including the Main Alter, Lectern, Music stand, side tables, water fonts etc.
John was a very accomplished musician starting with the violin at 11 yrs old and becoming proficient on most stringed instruments. He played dance music with numerous bands in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario and in the Okanagan area. His musical abilities carried over into some good times and in making many friends while enjoying the many "Snowbird"winters in Arizona and California. He continued to make music with several local groups and was part of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of the Valley church.
John had a variety of hobbies and enjoyed most sports, travel & RV ing, woodworking & music, along with gardening & pruning of the many fruit trees and shrubs on the property overlooking the Coldstream valley.
He will be greatly missed by all for his generosity, his humour and his ability to carry on a conversation about many many topics.

C'est avec le cœur lourd que nous annonçons le décès soudain et inattendu de John Zawyrucha, survenu à son domicile le 22 avril 2025.
Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée de 68 ans, Edna, sa fille Patty, son fils Jerry, tous deux d'Edmonton, son frère Ed (Carole) de Kelowna, cinq petits-enfants et cinq arrière-petits-enfants. Il laisse dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nièces, arrière-neveux et petites-nièces, une famille élargie et de nombreux amis. Il a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents, Sam et Ann, sa sœur Polly (et son beau-frère Jim) et son frère Wally.
Né en 1931 et élevé sur la ferme familiale de son grand-père, près de Rama, en Saskatchewan, il était le deuxième d'une famille de quatre enfants. Il commença l'école à Loch Sloy, puis déménagea avec sa famille dans la métropole de Rama, où il termina ses études secondaires. John déménagea à Weyburn, en Saskatchewan, où il trouva un emploi d'infirmier à l'hôpital psychiatrique de Weyburn. Cette expérience lui fut précieuse pour les dernières années de sa carrière à la GRC.
John s'engagea dans la GRC en avril 1951 et servit à divers endroits en Alberta, ainsi qu'au quartier général à Ottawa, occupant divers postes, en uniforme et en civil. Division K : Edmonton, Peace River, Slave Lake, Edson, Smoky Lake, Faust, Viking et Red Deer. Au quartier général à Ottawa, il s'occupa des douanes et de l'accise, des services de police contractuels, de la recherche et du développement et fit partie du groupe de travail de la Commission McDonald.
Après sa retraite comme sergent d'état-major en 1979, la famille déménagea et s'installa à Vernon, où lui et Edna cultivèrent des fruits, des légumes et de nombreuses fleurs. Pendant huit saisons, il a travaillé au parc Ellison comme garde forestier, profitant des multiples facettes d'un travail en plein air. Il a réactivé son adhésion aux Chevaliers de Colomb, devenant député de district, président d'État et chevalier du 4e degré. Très actif dans la construction de l'église Notre-Dame-de-la-Vallée, il a acheté le terrain et a joué un rôle déterminant dans la construction des bancs. Passionné depuis toujours par le travail du bois, il a construit 17 meubles pour la nouvelle église, dont l'autel principal, le lutrin, le pupitre, les tables d'appoint, les bénitiers, etc.
John était un musicien accompli, commençant le violon à 11 ans et maîtrisant la plupart des instruments à cordes. Il a joué de la musique de danse avec de nombreux groupes en Saskatchewan, en Alberta, en Ontario et dans la région de l'Okanagan. Ses talents musicaux lui ont permis de passer de bons moments et de se faire de nombreux amis lors des nombreux hivers « Snowbirds » en Arizona et en Californie. Il a continué à faire de la musique avec plusieurs groupes locaux et a participé au ministère musical de l'église Notre-Dame-de-la-Vallée.
John avait des passe-temps variés et aimait la plupart des sports, les voyages et les camping-cars, le travail du bois et la musique, ainsi que le jardinage et la taille des nombreux arbres fruitiers et arbustes de la propriété surplombant la vallée de Coldstream.
Il manquera beaucoup à tous pour sa générosité, son humour et sa capacité à entretenir une conversation sur une multitude de sujets.

John Zawyrucha s'est enrôlé dans la GRC le 16 avril 1951. Il a pris sa retraite au grade de sergent d'état-major le 7 février 1979.

Nick Zbrodoff, époux bien-aimé d'Adele de Lethbridge, décède paisiblement après une longue maladie à l'hôpital régional de Lethbridge le 12 mars 2007 à l'âge de 61 ans. Outre sa femme aimante Adele, il a survécu à ses deux enfants, Tracy (Kam Bullock) Zbrodoff et Scott Zbrodoff; Et ses petits-enfants Brittany et Kylie de Lethbridge. Il a également survécu à sa mère, Elizabeth Zbrodoff et deux soeurs, Jane (Gordon Logan) Zbrodoff et Betty (Don Shackleford) Zbrodoff. Il a été précédé par son père George et sa nièce Cassandra. Nick est né en Allemagne, juste après la seconde guerre mondiale. Il a immigré au Canada avec ses parents lorsqu'il n'avait que trois ans. Il a fréquenté l'école élémentaire à Lethbridge et ses alentours. Tout en grandissant, il a aidé son père dans ses affaires de construction. Il a également aimé être un cadet de la Force aérienne royale canadienne avec des amis proches. C'est avec cette organisation qu'il a obtenu son permis de pilote privé du Calgary Flying Club en juillet 1963. Nick a aimé la chasse et la pêche. Il était un excellent nageur et un tireur d'honneur exceptionnel. Il était également fier d'être diplômé de l'Institut collégial de Lethbridge. Après l'obtention du diplôme, Nick a poursuivi sa carrière de Mountie. Quelques années plus tard, il a épousé Adele Dufresne à Shaunavon, en Saskatchewan, en octobre 1967. Le couple avait deux enfants, Tracy et Scott. Pendant la GRC, il a fait de merveilleux amis, membres et non membres. Il a subit quelques bosses et des bleus à travers ses nombreuses aventures en tant que policier. Nick a joui de nombreuses publications différentes dans les régions rurales du Manitoba jusqu'à ce qu'elle se joigne à la Division des crimes de guerre de la GRC, basée à Ottawa (Ontario). Le changement de décor lui a offert de nombreux nouveaux défis et opportunités de voyage. Il a été un membre distingué de la GRC pendant 27 ans après quoi il a pris sa retraite en tant que sergent d'état-major et est rentré à la maison à Lethbridge pour être proche de la famille. En tant que Mountie à la retraite, Nick a brièvement enseigné un cours de droit au Lethbridge Community College. Il a ensuite travaillé comme enquêteur pour le gouvernement fédéral. Il a joui de nombreuses années en tant que membre de l'Association des anciens vétérans de la GRC et de la Légion royale canadienne. Au cours des dernières années, Nick était un fier grand-père de Bretagne, 10 ans et Kylie âgé de 14 mois. Nick était un époux attentionné et aimant, père, grand-père, oncle et frère. With our heaviest hearts, we sadly announce the passing of Walter Myron Zeleny on May 31, 2024, at the age of 70.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Noreen, daughter Shannon Joblin (Robert, Maggie), son Steven (Natasha, Stella, Blake) and daughter Erin (Jason); his brother Michael (Lisa, Eric, Taylor, Olivia), John Podgorski (Michael John, Katie, Mark), mother-in-law Elsie Gagnon, brother-in-law Brent Gagnon (DeeAnn, DeeDee). Predeceased by his parents, Mike and Geraldine and his sister Irene, as well as his father-in-law Buster Gagnon.
As per Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northwest Regional Renal Program.
Walter's passion and dedication for flying and aviation allows his family to take comfort in knowing he is in the sky and continuing to fly. We will greatly miss you.
Remembered with respect and gratitude for his service.
Wally Zeleny joined the RCMP on November 30, 1979. He served in HQ and "O" Divisions and retired on January 7, 2015. At the time of his retirement, he was in in charge of Aircraft Maintenance and Aircraft Purchases at RCMP Air Services.

La passion et le dévouement de Walter pour le vol et l'aviation permettent à sa famille de se sentir réconfortée de savoir qu'il est dans le ciel et qu'il continue de voler. Vous allez beaucoup nous manquer.

Wally Zeleny s'est joint à la GRC le 30 novembre 1979. Il a servi au QG et aux divisions « O » et a pris sa retraite le 7 janvier 2015. Au moment de sa retraite, il était responsable de la maintenance et des achats d'aéronefs aux Services aériens de la GRC. .

The burial service will be held in Selkirk, Manitoba in May, 2013. It is with great sadness we share with you that Ray passed away at home from heart failure. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Rankin, father of David (Heather), Philip (Sheila) and grandfather to Patrick, Anthony, Haley and Owen.
Ray was born in Allen, Saskatchewan. He taught school for four years prior to joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1952. His service in the Force included detachment policing, undercover operations, detective policing and administrative functions in British Columbia, New Brunswick and Ottawa. He retired to British Columbia in 1985.
Ray’s love of choral music gave joy to himself and others. He conducted church choirs and sang with the Vancouver Welshmen’s choir for many years. His strong dependable nature could always be counted on by family, friends and co-workers. He will be deeply missed.

C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous partageons avec vous que Ray est décédé à la maison d'une insuffisance cardiaque. Il était l'époux bien-aimé de Sheila Rankin, père de David (Heather), Philip (Sheila) et grand-père de Patrick, Anthony, Haley et Owen.
Ray est né à Allen, en Saskatchewan. Il a enseigné à l'école pendant quatre ans avant de se joindre à la Gendarmerie royale du Canada en 1952. Son service dans la Force comprenait des services de police de détachement, des opérations d'infiltration, des services de police de détective et des fonctions administratives en Colombie-Britannique, au Nouveau-Brunswick et à Ottawa. Il a pris sa retraite en Colombie-Britannique en 1985.
L'amour de Ray pour la musique chorale a fait plaisir à lui-même et aux autres. Il a dirigé des chorales d'église et a chanté avec la chorale des Gallois de Vancouver pendant de nombreuses années. On pouvait toujours compter sur sa forte nature fiable par sa famille, ses amis et ses collègues. Il nous manquera profondément.

ZIEGLER, Arnie - 28 novembre 1946 - 20 juin 2010. A l'âge de 63 ans, Arnie est entré en présence du Seigneur après une courte bataille acharnée avec une maladie respiratoire, entourée de sa femme, de ses enfants et de ses petits-enfants . Arnie est survécu par Ellen, sa femme aimante de 38 ans; Sa fille Karen, son mari Garrett et leurs enfants Ezekiel et Olive; Son fils David et sa femme Lyndsay. Cherie frère de Dianna (Gerry) Brooks, Dan (Susan) Ziegler, Gary (Debbie) Ziegler, Karo-Lee (Gène) Pilato et Darlene (Anthony) Girardo. Prédécédé par sa mère Margie en 2004; Son père Henry 1979.
Arnie a quitté les chutes Niagara à l'âge de 18 ans pour se joindre à la GRC où il a fièrement servi plusieurs communautés en Colombie-Britannique et dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest en tant qu'officier de la GRC. Il a pris sa retraite à Oliver, en C.-B. en 1999 après 32 ans de service. Arnie aimait le Seigneur, sa famille et ses amis. Il est bien aimé.
Un service commémoratif a eu lieu le vendredi 25 juin 2010 à l'église Oliver Alliance. Au lieu de fleurs, sa famille a demandé que les dons soient envoyés à la Fondation médicale Similkameen Sud Okanagan au nom d'Arnie. Keith Carl Ziegler passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 15, 2017 at the age of 89 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre in Saskatoon. Keith was born in Kitchener, Ontario, April 17, 1928 and as a young man worked alongside his father in Webber Feed and Seed Company until he enlisted with the RCMP on April 8, 1947. He proudly served until January 6, 1982 retiring as Superintendent of Saskatoon Subdivision. Several of Keith's accomplishments included being a part of the RCMP Musical Ride performing at the Queen's Coronation in 1953, receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal, the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal and the RCMP Long Service Medal with Silver Clasp and Stars. Upon retirement from the RCMP Keith had a second career as a Provincial Traffic Court Justice for 11 years. Keith had a lifetime passion for hockey, boxing, swimming, handball, spinning classes, aqua fit, and horseback riding. He was a strong supporter of the Shriner's, YMCA, Kiwanis, RCMP Veterans and Grace- Westminster United Church. Dad was a great storyteller and had an amazing memory for names, places and events and entertained all generations of his family with his life's escapades. Dad was dearly loved and will be missed. Keith is survived by his loving children, son Kirk (Debora), daughter Karen (Paul) Chisholm; grandchildren Jesse and Erin (Brendon) Lobraico, Mathew and Jason (Julia) Chisholm; great-grandchildren Noah and Jacob Lobraico; stepson, Scott (Maureen) Bonli and stepdaughter, Jane (David) Boone. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth and father, Clare; his first wife, Phyllis; his sister Phyllis Doherty; and his second wife Elsa. The family wishes to thank Doctor Naiyar Khayyam and the wonderful staff at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre for their compassionate care throughout his time there.
A celebration of Keith's life will take place at Grace- Westminster United Church, 505-10th Street East, Saskatoon on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. following a private interment with family. Keith Carl Ziegler est décédé paisiblement avec sa famille le 15 octobre 2017 à l'âge de 89 ans au Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre de Saskatoon. Keith est né à Kitchener (Ontario) le 17 avril 1928 et, jeune homme, travaillait aux côtés de son père dans Webber Feed and Seed Company jusqu'à son enrôlement à la GRC le 8 avril 1947. Il a fièrement servi jusqu'au 6 janvier 1982. de la subdivision de Saskatoon. Plusieurs des réalisations de Keith comprenaient une partie du Carrousel de la GRC au Queen's Coronation en 1953, recevant la Médaille du couronnement de la Reine Elizabeth II, la Médaille du jubilé de la Reine et la Médaille du service de la GRC avec fermoir en argent et étoiles. With deep sadness we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Isabelle, by sons, Dean and Glen (Shauna Hahn), by daughters, Eden (Mark Visokay), Carmen (Marc Brodeur) and by grandchildren Nicole, Jasen, Richard, Sage, Damon, Sarah, Ryan, Isabella and Maxwell. He is survived by his sisters Anne Bechard (Denis), Helen McDonnell, Mary Zielinski, Gloria Bugera (Joe), and sister-in-law Gloria Zielinski.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter, and mother, Stella, and four brothers, Michael, Bill, Alfred, Dmetro and sister-in- law Elsie Zielinski. The greatest pride and joy of John's life was his family.
John was born in Canora, Saskatchewan. He attended Verdant Valley Elementary in the Mikado district and Canora High School. He studied at Carleton University in Ottawa and the University of Alberta in Edmonton where he obtained Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. He also attended Newman Theological College and received a Bachelor of Religious Education. John's first career was with the RCMP, stationed in Edmonton, Bonnyville, and Ottawa. He was a teacher with the Edmonton Catholic Schools for 28 years. He taught at many schools including St. Mary's, Cartier McGee, Louis St. Laurent and St Rose. His interests included yard work, the cabin, Camp Encounter, John's Handyman Services, Dove Properties, and helping Isabelle with Fifth Avenue Collection.
Isabelle and family profoundly thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Grey Nuns Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Prayer service on Friday, May 15, 2015, 7:00 p.m. Connelly-McKinley, 10011 – 114 Street. Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close. Father Andrew Bogdanowicz will be officiating with co- celebrant Father Len Gartner, who performed their marriage ceremony 50 years ago. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum. Donations may be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Raymond George Zinck announce his peaceful passing on November 20, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Rose Bay, Nova Scotia, Ray lived an extraordinary life shaped by service, adventure, and an enduring love for the outdoors. In 1951, at only 18 years old, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, beginning a remarkable 37-year career that would take him across Newfoundland, Labrador, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Over the decades he became known as a dedicated police officer, a respected leader, and a steady presence in every community he served.
Ray's northern service in the remote communities of Labrador in the 1950s left a lasting mark on him. He fell in love with the land and its people, and he never stopped sharing stories, of dog teams, storms on the coast, hunting caribou, and the remarkable individuals he met along the way. His postings included Hopedale, Goose Bay, Gander, St. John's, Fredericton, Halifax and finally Corner Brook, where he retired with the rank of Superintendent.
Throughout his distinguished service, he received multiple honours, including the RCMP Long Service Medal, Gold Clasp and Star, a Commanding Officer's Commendation, and the Queen's Jubilee Medal.
Ray was also a lifelong learner and professional, graduating from the Canadian Police College, the FBI National Academy in Quantico, and completing studies in criminology at Saint Mary's University. But for all his achievements, he remained humble, grounded, and deeply connected to his roots.
Beyond his career, Ray was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home "in the woods with the wind in his face." He loved hunting, fishing, and exploring the wild places of the Atlantic provinces. He was a skilled carpenter, always puttering in his garage building boats, working on projects, fixing, or creating something useful. He was an exceptional storyteller, someone who could fill a room with laughter, history, and memories of a life fully lived.
Ray was also the author of nine books, many of them capturing his remarkable experiences in Labrador and his reflections on policing, northern life, and the human spirit. His writing preserved stories that might otherwise have been lost, and they stand as a lasting legacy for his family, friends, and readers.
He was a devoted and loving husband to the late Beulah (Butler) Zinck, his wife and steadfast partner through countless moves, adventures, and challenges. Together they raised two sons, Brian (deceased) and Frank, who grew up watching their father serve with integrity and live with curiosity and compassion.
Ray leaves behind his son Frank Zinck and daughter-in-law Johanne, his grandchildren Matthew, Michael (Kristie) and Christopher Zinck, and Dannielle Connolly, and his siblings Marina (Don) (Withers), and Wallace Zinck; and his great grandchild Austin. Ray is predeceased by his wife Beulah, his son Brian, his brothers Bob and Al.
The family takes comfort in knowing Ray's adventure continues, his stories now carried on the wind and in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
In keeping with Ray's wishes, there will be no funeral service. He will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife Beulah and son Brian at Atlantic Funeral Homes on Main Street, Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Ray spent his life in service, to his country, to the people of the North, and to his family. He leaves behind countless stories, deep roots, and a legacy of strength, humour, and quiet wisdom. Those who knew him will remember not only the uniform he wore, but the warmth of the man behind it.
"He walked the woods, knew the land, and loved the people he met along the way. And he told their stories, so they would never be forgotten."

Raymond Zinck joined the RCMP on December 10, 1951. He retired at the rank of Superintendent on August 15, 1988.

En 1951, à seulement 18 ans, il s’est enrôlé dans la Gendarmerie royale du Canada, amorçant une remarquable carrière de 37 ans qui l’a conduit à travers Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, le Nouveau-Brunswick et la Nouvelle-Écosse. Au fil des décennies, il s'est forgé une réputation de policier dévoué, de chef respecté et de figure rassurante dans chaque communauté qu'il a servie.
Son service dans les communautés isolées du Labrador, dans les années 1950, l'a profondément marqué. Il est tombé amoureux de cette terre et de ses habitants, et n'a jamais cessé de raconter ses aventures : attelages de chiens, tempêtes côtières, chasse au caribou et rencontres remarquables. Il a été affecté à Hopedale, Goose Bay, Gander, St. John's, Fredericton, Halifax et enfin Corner Brook, où il a pris sa retraite avec le grade de surintendant.

C'était un conteur exceptionnel, capable d'emplir une pièce de rires, d'histoire et de souvenirs d'une vie bien remplie.
Ray était également l'auteur de neuf livres, dont plusieurs relatent ses expériences remarquables au Labrador et ses réflexions sur le travail policier, la vie dans le Nord et la force de l'esprit humain. Ray laisse dans le deuil son fils Frank Zinck et sa belle-fille Johanne, ses petits-enfants Matthew, Michael (Kristie) et Christopher Zinck, ainsi que Dannielle Connolly, ses frères et sœurs Marina (Don) (née Withers) et Wallace Zinck, et son arrière-petit-fils Austin. Ray est précédé dans la mort par son épouse Beulah, son fils Brian et ses frères Bob et Al.
La famille trouve du réconfort à l'idée que l'aventure de Ray se poursuit, ses histoires emportées par le vent et gravées dans le cœur de tous ceux qui l'ont aimé.
Conformément aux volontés de Ray, il n'y aura pas de cérémonie funéraire. Il sera incinéré et ses cendres reposeront auprès de son épouse Beulah et de son fils Brian au cimetière Atlantic Funeral Homes, situé sur la rue Main à Dartmouth.

Ray a consacré sa vie au service de son pays, des gens du Nord et de sa famille. Il laisse derrière lui d'innombrables récits, des racines profondes et un héritage de force, d'humour et de sagesse tranquille. Ceux qui l'ont connu se souviendront non seulement de son uniforme, mais aussi de la chaleur humaine qui se cachait derrière.
« Il arpentait les bois, connaissait la terre et aimait les gens qu'il rencontrait. Et il racontait leurs histoires pour qu'elles ne soient jamais oubliées. »
On se souvient de lui avec respect et gratitude pour son service.
Raymond Zinck s'est enrôlé dans la GRC le 10 décembre 1951. Il a pris sa retraite avec le grade de surintendant le 15 août 1988.

Sad to advise that Douglas Christophe Zorn passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 28,2020.
Doug was born on August 28,1934 to Adam and Leora Zorn at Virden, Manitoba. He was predeceased by two brothers- Donald born in 1936 and passed away in 2000- Kenneth born in 1938 and passed away in 2016.
In 1958 he married the love of his life,Catherine Ross R.N. of Oak Point, New Brunswick who passed away December 25,2015.
He is survived by three daughters, Kelly (Murray) Dickson of Grande Cache, AB, Lynn(Seppo) Belcher of North Battleford, SK and Nancy Zorn (Lloyd Culbert) of Meadow Lake, SK. He had five grandchildren Meighan (Jason) Baird of Calgary, AB, Caitlin Dickson (Dain Halkyard) of Grande Prairie, AB, Richard (Nataliia) Belcher of Labelle, NS, Samantha (Aaron) Fox of Fort McMurray, AB, and Laura ( Blair) Harper of Battleford, SK. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
On turning' 18 years old Doug applied to join the RCMP and on May 18,1953 he signed on to what would be a 35 year career with the force. He took equitation and the first part of his training in Regina and the second part in Ottawa. On completion of training he was posted to "A" Division traffic and GlS. He was then transferred to "J" Division New Brunswick serving at Fredericton, Moncton, Bathurst, Newcastle and St. John. Whilst stationed in Newcastle, he met his wife to be who was finishing her final year of training to become aRegistered Nurse. On June2 1, 1958 they were married at Burnt Church, NB.
In the fall of 1958 they made the long transfer to Melville, SK. During his career he was transferred to the following destinations: North Battleford Rural, Meadow Lake, Green Lake, Humboldt (promoted to Cpl), Esterhazy (promoted to Sgt), Biggar, North Battleford (North &
South Section NCO), l /C North Battleford City (promoted to S/Sgt).
Whilst serving in this position, his wife Catherine, was given the position of Director of Nursing in 1979 in Meadow Lake. Doug followed her in 1982 as l/C Meadow Lake and retired in 1988 after 35 years in the force and went on to other vocations.
After a short time with Sk Crop Insurance he spent the next 12 years in Oil-Gas Pipeline Construction across the four western provinces. Hired first as a landman, he took additional training and became a registered Safety Officer with the Alberta Construction Assoc. and
ended his career as a Project Manager. He retired completely in the year 2000.
Besides being an ardent golfer and curler, Doug and Kay purchased a small cabin in 1970 at Jeanette Lake in the Meadow Lake Provincial Park. This cabin was eventually torn down and
a home built which is still owned by Kelly and Murray. In 2018, due to mobility and age, Doug moved to a seniors home in North Battleford.

À l'âge de 18 ans, Doug a demandé à se joindre à la GRC et, le 18 mai 1953, il s'est engagé dans ce qui serait une carrière de 35 ans dans la GRC. Mike loved life to the fullest. He was well known for his involvement in sports, specifically basketball and soccer, his favorite team being the Toronto Raptors. He loved to travel, movies, ethnic cooking and facebook. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by many. He was small in stature with a huge heart.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Michael’s life at McAdam’s Funeral Home, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, March 15th between 2-6 pm with words of remembrance at 4:00 pm. For those who wish, donations in memory of Mike made to a local charity of their choice would be appreciated by the family.

Mike a passé 25 ans au service du Canada avec la GRC à la fois comme officier civil et comme membre en uniforme. Il a complété sa formation à la Division Dépôt de l'Académie de la GRC en 1989 à l'âge de 40 ans et a servi en Nouvelle-Écosse et au Nouveau-Brunswick, en prenant sa retraite en 2009 en tant que caporal. Depuis sa retraite, Mike a reconnu avec les racines de sa famille et a aidé un vieil ami en étant fortement impliqué dans les cymbales d'Istanbul Mehmet. Il a travaillé dur pour distribuer les cymbales ici au Canada jusqu'à sa mort. Mike aimait la vie au maximum. Il était bien connu pour son implication dans les sports, en particulier le basket-ball et le soccer, son équipe préférée étant les Raptors de Toronto. Il aimait voyager, les films, la cuisine ethnique et facebook. Il était un mari dévoué, père, grand-père, frère, oncle et ami. Il sera manqué par beaucoup. Il était petit en taille avec un cœur énorme.
Les amis et la famille sont invités à célébrer la vie de Michael à la Maison funéraire McAdam, à Fredericton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, le mardi 15 mars de 14 h à 18 h avec des paroles de souvenir à 16 h. Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, les dons en mémoire de Mike faits à un organisme de bienfaisance local de leur choix serait apprécié par la famille.

Survived by his former wife, Leonie and his daughter, Sonia.
Lorne Zimmerman joined the RCMP on July 2, 1964 as a member of Troop 3, (1964-65). He subsequently graduated with Troop 4 in the spring of 1965. Lorne was posted to "E" Division and assigned to Prince Rupert Detachment where he met his future wife, Leonie. They were married in 1968. Lorne took his discharge in 1969 and relocated to Australia for a few years. He rejoined the RCMP on April 27, 1973 was reposted to "E" Division and eventually assigned to Courtenay Detachment where he and Leonie enjoyed a full and active life; a time remembered with fondness by several detachment colleagues & spouses from that era.
Lorne served in "E" Division until his retirement on May 6, 2003 at the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.
No information on a celebration of life is available at this time.

Lorne Zimmerman s'est joint à la GRC le 2 juillet 1964 en tant que membre de la troupe 3 (1964-1965). Il a ensuite obtenu son diplôme avec la troupe 4 au printemps 1965. Lorne a été affecté à la division "E" et affecté au détachement de Prince Rupert où il a rencontré sa future épouse, Leonie. Ils se sont mariés en 1968. Lorne a pris sa libération en 1969 et a déménagé en Australie pendant quelques années. Il a rejoint la GRC le 27 avril 1973, a été réaffecté à la division «E» et finalement affecté au détachement de Courtenay où lui et Léonie ont connu une vie pleine et active; une époque dont se souviennent avec tendresse plusieurs collègues et conjoints du détachement de cette époque.
Lorne a servi dans la division "E" jusqu'à sa retraite le 6 mai 2003 au grade de caporal. Il a reçu la médaille du jubilé de la reine Elizabeth II en 2002.

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Aaron David Zimmerman, who we lost unexpectedly and tragically on a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the young age of 41 years.
Aaron was born on December 2, 1981 in Calgary, Alberta to Garry and Diane Zimmerman. His laugh, smile, jokes, calming spirit, and love of family will be so deeply missed. He was an amazing father, son, brother, stepbrother, uncle, friend and a stand up RCMP Officer. He served for six years in the Central Alberta area and loved his RCMP family. Aaron watched his dad work in Corrections, and from a young age wanted to become an RCMP Officer. After years of working in Corrections, his hard work, commitment, patience, and dedication to his dream was realized on June 19, 2017, when he officially became a member of the RCMP.
Growing up, Aaron loved being outside, spending time on the Kocyba farm, camping trips with the family, and riding his bike and being around his older brother, Garrett. He was a cadet and played football, hockey, and baseball as a boy. From a young age, he had an ability to make people laugh. His charismatic presence and ability to make people feel comfortable led him to being Class President in High School. He attended Lethbridge Community College and received his Criminal Justice Diploma.
He realized his dream of fatherhood in 2005, when his first son, Carter was born. Tyler was born three years later, and Aaron was beaming with joy. He loved having experiences with his boys and making fun memories. Aaron valued time spent with friends and family and hosted great BBQ's and parties. He and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Chan opened their doors and hearts to everyone they met and were such a strong team.
Aaron lit up every room he walked into, and he knew how to make people smile no matter what. In recent years, he had taken up skiing and riding his Harley. These activities made him feel alive and brought him so much joy. He told the best jokes, loved the people closest to him deeply, and only ever wanted the best for people. His life was way too short, but he lived his forty-one years to the fullest.
Aaron will be lovingly remembered by his girlfriend, Elizabeth Chan of Red Deer; and his sons, Carter and Tyler Zimmerman of Red Deer. He will also be sadly missed by his mother, Diane Zimmerman and step father, Jim Kocyba of Red Deer; his brother, Garrett (Chelsea) Zimmerman; his step-brother, Stephen (Ashley) Kocyba of Red Deer; his special niece and nephews, Lucas Zimmerman, Kaden Beriault, TJ Bourassa, and Arayva Kocyba; his step grandfather, Bill Rowland; his uncle Ralphe Stanfield, and numerous other family members and dear friends.
Aaron was predeceased by his father, Garry Zimmerman; and his grandfathers, Wilbert Zimmerman and Ross Stanfield; and his grandmothers, Alice (Zimmerman) Rowland and Jean Stanfield.
A Celebration of Aaron's Life will be at CrossRoads Church, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, Alberta on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jachin Mullen Officiating. A Public Visitation one hour prior to the service. If unable to attend Aaron's Celebration of Life in person, you may watch his service via Livestream at www.crossroadschurch.ca/livefunerals.

C'est avec des cœurs brisés que nous annonçons le décès d'Aaron David Zimmerman, que nous avons perdu de façon inattendue et tragiquement lors de vacances en famille à Cancun, au Mexique, le mercredi 25 janvier 2023 à l'âge de 41 ans.
Aaron est né le 2 décembre 1981 à Calgary, en Alberta, de Garry et Diane Zimmerman. Son rire, son sourire, ses blagues, son esprit apaisant et son amour de la famille nous manquent si profondément. C'était un père, un fils, un frère, un beau-frère, un oncle, un ami et un officier de la GRC de Stand Up. Il a servi pendant six ans dans la région centrale de l'Alberta et a adoré sa famille de la GRC. Aaron a regardé son père travailler dans des services correctionnels et, dès son jeune âge, voulait devenir officier de la GRC. Après des années de travail dans les services correctionnels, son travail acharné, son engagement, sa patience et son dévouement à son rêve ont été réalisés le 19 juin 2017, lorsqu'il est officiellement membre de la GRC.
En grandissant, Aaron aimait être dehors, passer du temps à la ferme Kocyba, camper avec la famille, faire du vélo et être avec son frère aîné, Garrett. Il était un cadet et jouait au football, au hockey et au baseball en tant que garçon. Dès son jeune âge, il avait la capacité de faire rire les gens. Sa présence charismatique et sa capacité à mettre les gens à l'aise l'ont amené à être président de classe au lycée. Il a fréquenté Lethbridge Community College et a obtenu son diplôme de justice pénale.
Il a réalisé son rêve de paternité en 2005, lorsque son premier fils, Carter est né. Tyler est né trois ans plus tard et Aaron rayonnait de joie. Il aimait avoir des expériences avec ses garçons et faire des souvenirs amusants. Aaron a évalué le temps passé avec des amis et la famille et a accueilli de grands barbecuels et fêtes. Lui et sa petite amie, Elizabeth Chan, ont ouvert leurs portes et leurs cœurs à tous ceux qu'ils ont rencontrés et étaient une équipe si forte.
Aaron a allumé chaque pièce dans laquelle il est entré, et il savait comment faire sourire les gens quoi qu'il arrive. Ces dernières années, il avait pris du ski et de l'équitation de son Harley. Ces activités le faisaient se sentir vivant et lui apportaient tellement de joie. Il a raconté les meilleures blagues, aimait profondément les personnes les plus proches de lui et ne voulait jamais que le meilleur pour les gens. Sa vie était bien trop courte, mais il a vécu ses quarante et un ans au maximum.

Il est né le 9 janvier 1928 à Ruhmmansfelden, en Bavière, en Allemagne, et s'est joint à la Force le 5 février 1951 à Winnipeg, au Manitoba. Après avoir terminé sa formation à la Division Dépôt, Regina, Saskatchewan, et à la Division "N", Rockcliffe, Ontario, Zitzelsberger a été affecté à la Division "E", Biritish Colombia, où il a servi à Quesnel et Prince George. Le 1er octobre 1952, Zitzelsberger a été transféré au Crime Detection Laboratory (COL) de Regina et le 4 juillet 1975, il a été transféré au COL d'Edmonton, en Alberta. Peacefully on June 14th, 2023, John passed away held by his daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Ted at Sherwood Care Nursing Home, Sherwood Park.
John was predeceased by his beautiful wife Shirley, his beloved Parents Tom and Molly Zlotoff, his sister Doreen Ferland, brother Alec Zlotoff, sisters Lucy Saranchuk and Elsie Saunderson. John will be lovingly and forever remembered by his daughter Cheryl, son-in-law Ted, his Nieces and Nephews and his many Friends.
John proudly served in the RCMP in Alberta for 25 years. He retired in 1980 and embarked upon a career as an owner/operator of 3 Dairy Queen's. John worked tirelessly with the Canadian Franchise Association to amend regulations that impacted Franchise owners. After selling the Dairy Queen's, he continued to build houses, consult on projects throughout the years and was a constant advocate for those who were under-represented. John was an avid hunter and fisherman for 60 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 24 at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, AB.
We would like to thank, honour and recognize the Staff at Sherwood Care Nursing Home and Doctor Trent Dusang who all provided exceptional care for Dad.

Joseph Patrick Zorn (Pat) died peacefully at his home on November 23, 2021.
Pat was born in Yorkton, Sask. on March 7, 1954. He was raised in MacNutt, Sask. under the watchful eye of his mother, Gatha and father, Val. After an unforgettable upbringing, he married Carla and joined the RCMP as an aircraft maintenance engineer. His RCMP career took the couple to many regions in Canada including British Columbia, Northwest Territories and then back to Saskatchewan. His final career stop was in Ottawa where he developed many interests including his love for woodworking.
Upon retirement, he chose to move to the resort community of Prairie Lake Lodge, which was near to MacNutt. There he designed and built a beautiful home where he enjoyed golfing, fishing and woodworking. His home gave him peace and tranquility, as he was submerged in nature by merely sitting on his deck.
Pat’s brother and sister, sister-in-law, all his nieces and nephews, cousins and friends will lovingly remember him.
Pat’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time. Everyone is invited to join the family following the service for lunch and a time to share fond memories.

Joseph Patrick Zorn (Pat) est décédé paisiblement à son domicile le 23 novembre 2021.
Pat est né à Yorkton, en Saskatchewan. le 7 mars 1954. Il a grandi à MacNutt, en Saskatchewan. sous l'œil vigilant de sa mère Gatha et de son père Val. Après une éducation inoubliable, il a épousé Carla et a rejoint la GRC en tant qu'ingénieur d'entretien d'aéronefs. Sa carrière à la GRC a conduit le couple dans de nombreuses régions du Canada, dont la Colombie-Britannique, les Territoires du Nord-Ouest, puis de nouveau en Saskatchewan. Son dernier arrêt de carrière était à Ottawa où il a développé de nombreux intérêts, y compris son amour pour le travail du bois.
À la retraite, il a choisi de déménager dans la communauté de villégiature de Prairie Lake Lodge, située près de MacNutt. Là, il a conçu et construit une belle maison où il aimait le golf, la pêche et le travail du bois. Sa maison lui procurait paix et tranquillité, car il était immergé dans la nature en s'asseyant simplement sur son pont.
Le frère et la sœur de Pat, sa belle-sœur, toutes ses nièces et neveux, ses cousins et amis se souviendront de lui avec amour.
La famille de Pat tient à remercier tout le monde pour leurs pensées, leurs prières et leurs témoignages de sympathie pendant cette période difficile. Tout le monde est invité à se joindre à la famille après le service pour le déjeuner et un temps pour partager de bons souvenirs.

ZORN Reg. No. 16599, S/Sgt. Oscar Harold Henry Zorn (Rtd.). 79, died Sept. 18, 2002, at Salmon Arm, B.C. He was born July 5, 1923, at McNutt, Sask., and joined the Force Aug. 15, 1950, at Victoria, B.C., when the BCPP -which he served in from May 18, 1949 until Aug. 14, 1950 amalgamated with the RCMP. He was posted to "E" Division, where he served until retiring Dec. 30, 1977. Prior to joining the BCPP, Zorn had served with the Merchant Navy from May 1942 until June 1943 and then with the Canadian Army from Jan. 24, 1944 until Aug. 13, 1946. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the France and Germany Star. the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal (1939-45).

Il est né le 5 juillet 1923 à McNutt, en Saskatchewan, et s'est joint à la Force le 15 août 1950 à Victoria, en Colombie-Britannique, lorsque le BCPP - dans lequel il a servi du 18 mai 1949 au 14 août 1950 a fusionné avec la GRC. Il a été affecté à la division “E”, où il a servi jusqu'à sa retraite le 30 décembre 1977. Avant de se joindre au BCPP, Zorn avait servi dans la marine marchande de mai 1942 à juin 1943, puis dans l'armée canadienne à partir du 24 janvier. De 1944 au 13 août 1946. On January 17, 2025, Jaroslaw (Jerry) Zuk passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital – Pallative Care Unit with his family by his side and was welcomed into heaven by his infant daughter, Susan. On May 14, 1938, Jerry Zuk, was born in Jaktorow Poland. At 11 months old, he immigrated with his parents, John and Anne Zuk, to Canada arriving in St. John, New Brunswick, then travelling to settle in the Winnipeg area.
Jerry joined the RCMP on April 1, 1957 and retired on July 1, 1992, serving over 35 years at numerous detachments throughout Saskatchewan. After his retirement, Jerry continued to use his investigative skills and worked for SGI and Monsanto.
While Jerry was posted in Melfort, he met the love of his life, Dorothy. They were married October 7, 1961 and over the next 63 years, they were blessed with two daughters, Shelley and Patti, and a beautiful family. Family was of the utmost importance to Jerry and becoming a grandfather and great grandfather was one of his life's greatest joys.
Volunteering was a large part of Jerry's life. Early on he enjoyed helping with the clubs that his children belonged to, working with the kids at the schools in the communities that he was stationed at, to working with the Health Foundation – Volunteer Services, after he retired.
Jerry liked to be, and always was, busy. With his love of woodworking and skilled hands, Jerry finished many personal and family basements, bird houses, secret (magic) boxes, and his ever so famous, personalized shoehorns.
Jerry loved to travel with Dorothy and together they shared many trips throughout Canada, the United States, and abroad. They enjoyed several winters in Mexico and fishing trips to northern Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his father and mother John and Anne Zuk; brother Jule Zuk; daughter Susan; and great grandson Austin Constant. Jerry is survived by his wife Dorothy; daughters Shelley (Ken) Wyonzek and Patti (Curtis) Wass; grandchildren Kyle (Acara) Wyonzek, Kayla (Blake) Constant, Drew Wass (Dirk Van Parys) and Justin Wass (Maddison Hudson) and great granddaughters Arista Wyonzek, Acelyn Wyonzek, and Sienna Constant. He also leaves behind a sister Dianne (Terry) Edgeworth; sister-in-law, Joan Zuk; brother-in-law Bob Watt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Regina Pasqua Hospital- Palliative Care Unit for taking such good care of our husband, dad and grandfather and the family at College Park I, for being so supportive at this difficult time.

Le 17 janvier 2025, Jaroslaw (Jerry) Zuk est décédé paisiblement à l'unité de soins palliatifs de l'hôpital Pasqua, entouré de sa famille, et a été accueilli au paradis par sa petite fille, Susan. Le 14 mai 1938, Jerry Zuk est né à Jaktorow, en Pologne. À l'âge de 11 mois, il a immigré au Canada avec ses parents, John et Anne Zuk, en arrivant à St. John, au Nouveau-Brunswick, puis en voyageant pour s'installer dans la région de Winnipeg.
Jerry s'est joint à la GRC le 1er avril 1957 et a pris sa retraite le 1er juillet 1992, après avoir servi pendant plus de 35 ans dans de nombreux détachements en Saskatchewan. Après sa retraite, Jerry a continué à utiliser ses compétences d'enquêteur et a travaillé pour SGI et Monsanto.
Alors que Jerry était en poste à Melfort, il a rencontré l'amour de sa vie, Dorothy. Ils se sont mariés le 7 octobre 1961 et au cours des 63 années suivantes, ils ont eu la chance d'avoir deux filles, Shelley et Patti, et une belle famille. Jerry aimait voyager avec Dorothy et ensemble, ils ont partagé de nombreux voyages à travers le Canada, les États-Unis et à l'étranger. Ils ont passé plusieurs hivers au Mexique et des voyages de pêche dans le nord de la Saskatchewan.
Il a été précédé dans la mort par son père et sa mère John et Anne Zuk, son frère Jule Zuk, sa fille Susan et son arrière-petit-fils Austin Constant. On Ukrainian Christmas Eve our precious Mel went to heaven with family surrounding him in prayer.
Mel was first a teacher and then an officer in the RCMP for 25+ years later working in the Prov. Gov't starting the Suggestion Awards program before opening his own handyman business.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Christine and daughters Melanie (Mike), Dana (Ken), Tanya (Rick) and nine grandchildren.
Mel's first love was his Saviour, Jesus Christ. He served God with his whole heart. His warm smile and big hugs gave joy to all who received them and will be dearly missed. "Well done good and faithful servant" Matt 25:23 -
Thank you Dr. Woodley, for your compassionate care over the years and for the loving nurses and doctors on VGH 7B who went the extra mile to keep Mel comfortable.

La veille de Noël ukrainienne, notre précieux Mel est allé au paradis avec sa famille l'entourant dans la prière.
Mel a d'abord été enseignant, puis officier de la GRC pendant plus de 25 ans plus tard, travaillant dans la province. Le gouvernement ne lance pas le programme Suggestion Awards avant d'ouvrir sa propre entreprise de bricoleur.
Il laisse derrière lui sa femme de 60 ans Christine et ses filles Melanie (Mike), Dana (Ken), Tanya (Rick) et neuf petits-enfants.
Le premier amour de Mel était son Sauveur, Jésus-Christ. Il a servi Dieu de tout son cœur. Son sourire chaleureux et ses gros câlins ont réjoui tous ceux qui les ont reçus et nous manqueront beaucoup. «Bien joué, bon et fidèle serviteur» Matt 25:23 -

It is with deep sorrow the family of Doug Zwicker, 51 of Chester Basin announce the sudden passing of a loving husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend on October 18, 2020 in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.
Doug worked for the RCMP for 22 years, 17 of them as a Civilian Member.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lochlan and Blanche DeMille, and George and Nettie Zwicker. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Sandra Zwicker; his Number One, the love of his life, Penny; his brother, Dave (Rachel) and their children Selena, Brian and Lilli.
Due to COVID-19 conditions a graveside service will be held for family and close friends in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Borgels Point Road, Chester Basin, Rev. Shirley Carras officiating.
In Doug's memory donations may be made to S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que la famille de Doug Zwicker, 51 ans de Chester Basin, annonce le décès soudain d'un mari, fils, frère, cousin, oncle et ami aimant le 18 octobre 2020 au QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.
Doug a travaillé pour la GRC pendant 22 ans, dont 17 à titre de membre civil.
Il fut prédécédé par ses grands-parents, Lochlan et Blanche DeMille, et George et Nettie Zwicker. Il laisse dans le deuil ses parents, Wayne et Sandra Zwicker; son numéro un, l'amour de sa vie, Penny; son frère, Dave (Rachel) et leurs enfants Selena, Brian et Lilli.
En raison des conditions du COVID-19, un service funéraire aura lieu pour la famille et les amis proches au cimetière anglican de St. John's, Borgels Point Road, Chester Basin, le révérend Shirley Carras officiant.
À la mémoire de Doug, des dons peuvent être faits à S.H.A.I.D. Refuge pour animaux d'arbre.

Passed away in hospital on Monday May 4, 2015 at the age of 82. Son of the late Nellie and Joseph Zwicker of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, he is survived by his wife Lucille, daughters Paula Klante (Peter) and Isabelle(Carla) Morgan, also one sister Roberta Barss (Morris), Halifax, N.S. as well as several nieces and nephews. Elmer worked three years in the Bank of Montreal in Nova Scotia followed by a 35 year career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police serving in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario .He graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1962. Following retirement in 1987 Elmer and Lucille took up golf and spent most winters in Florida. In addition to golf, his favourite pass time was playing bridge and following the efforts of the Ottawa Senator’s Hockey Team.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, (East of Vanier Parkway), Tuesday, May 12, 2015 form 9:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service in the Sacred Space at 11 a.m. Interment in the RCMP Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood. In lieu of flowers donations to support the RCMP Memorial Cemetery can be made directly to the Beechwood Cemetery Foundation, a registered Canadian charity. Fils de feu Nellie et Joseph Zwicker du comté de Lunenburg, en Nouvelle-Écosse, il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Lucille, Paula Klante (Peter) et Isabelle (Carla) Morgan, également une soeur Roberta Barss (Morris), Halifax (N.-É.) Ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Il a travaillé trois ans à la Banque de Montréal en Nouvelle-Écosse, suivi d'une carrière de 35 ans au sein de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada en Saskatchewan, en Alberta et à Ottawa, en Ontario. Diplômé de l'Université Carleton avec un baccalauréat en commerce en 1962. Après la retraite En 1987 Elmer et Lucille ont pris le golf et ont passé la plupart des hivers en Floride. En plus du golf, son temps de passe préféré jouait au bridge et à la suite des efforts de l'équipe de hockey du sénateur d'Ottawa.
La famille et les amis sont invités à la Beechwood, aux funérailles, aux cimetières et aux services de crémation, au 280, avenue Beechwood, à l'est de la promenade Vanier, le mardi 12 mai 2015, de 9 h 30 jusqu'à l'heure du service commémoratif dans l'espace sacré à 11 h. Dans le cimetière commémoratif de la GRC à Beechwood. Au lieu de fleurs, des dons pour appuyer le cimetière commémoratif de la GRC peuvent être faits directement à la Fondation du cimetière Beechwood, un organisme de bienfaisance canadien enregistré. Born June 28, 1932, at New Germany, Nova Scotia., he joined the Force Sept. 23, 1952, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon completion of training at "Depot," he served at "F," "HQ" and "K" Divs., until retiring Nov. 30, 1987. He was awarded the RCMP Long Service Medal, Gold Clasp and Stars.

Né le 28 juin 1932 à New Germany, en Nouvelle-Écosse, il s'est joint à la Force le 23 septembre 1952 à Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Après avoir terminé sa formation au “Dépôt”, il a servi aux divisions “F”, “QG” et “K” jusqu'à sa retraite le 30 novembre 1987. Il a reçu la Médaille du service long de la GRC, Fermoir en or et étoiles.
